If youre going to check the shadows the edges doesnt look smooth. The shadow of the trees looks really bad. Im wondering if theres somekind of settings that I have to change to make it good. ive updated the drivers and such.

It's a last gen average card. From what I can see it looks fine, I think you're being picky.

uhm, I have a friend whos using a 4850 and the edges is smoother and clearer. or is it just because he has a better card?

You nailed it! The 4850 was the enthusiast level card of that generation. He probably has his settings higher and or is using a higher resolution.

got it, then ive made a mistake in purchasing this card.. thanks anyways

Hey its a good card, but just that and nothing more.

And yes if u can afford it, then its time for an upgrade.

No he did not ,4770 is roughly an equivalent to 4850,in fact taking all factors into consideration it's a better card.

The edges might look jagged for several reasons, you might not be using you monitors native resolution,or you have set the setting too low,AA may smooth out jagged edges where appropriate.

any suggestions on how to improve it?

Looks like a settings/driver issue to me.
The first screenshot looks quite good really, shadows shouldn't be totally sharp when the sun is the illuminating object. Those are a bit too blurred, but are better then totally sharp ones.

The other ones look like one of your detail settings is set very low.
Image shape should not change based on the gpu, even a 4350 should be able to put out the same quality images as a 5870, the difference is in FPS (and dx11, obviously), not quality.

The edges of the shadows isnt smooth, they look like boxes put together. Or im just really picky..
