ok in most boards there are many sata ports,,

some in the south bridge(so taking full advanteg from the bandwith(sp?))
so they are idel for raid 0 since they have more room to breath...


and some are bridged to the pci right..

so what is the point(for example for the extra 4 ports in the ic7 max3) since they are on the pci bus..

is it idel for raid 1 or any other ...??

would'nt the bus limit its speed.. or what..??
 
Yes, they will if you are using a RAID-0 or RAID-5 configuration. You would only theoretically be able to transfer 133 mb/sec. However, a single drive would not be able to saturate the PCI Bus...
 
i see so there is a chance that it will be fine if i use 2 hards in the 4 ports in raid 0 since they won't be that fast and the other 2 with 2 optical drives..
