what's the point of having more then 60 gigs? even 40 gigs?
I can get all of my OS and programs and stuff installed on 10-15 gigs, the rest would be used for data files and downloads. It really depends on what you are doing. I've seen people do image editing with lots of quality where 3 images could easily take up 6 gigs. Video editing takes up even more, depending upon the quality.

I remember my first harddrive, 129mb. Still have it. It had DOS and all my programs on it. In that day and age, over 100mb was way too much. Harddrive space was expensive, so you only got what you needed. Now it's cheap and plentiful, so you plan ahead and buy larger drives so you have to update less often. Win2k takes up over a gig of my system. 5 years ago, that much space was unheard of. I can remember myself when 1Gigabyte harddrives came out saying "Why would you need all that space? You'd never use it all, your just wasting money buying the newest thing out there."

I have 180gb of anime, about 12 gigs of music (most ripped from the original CD's, and a lot of non-copyrighted classical music), about 10gb of backed up CD images so I dont have to load the CD every time I play (<3 Daemon-Tools), and another 8gb of downloads and other misc stuff.

storage??

i have roughly this much, 360gb of anime, 110gb of mp3's, and quite a bit of other stuff the rules of this forum prohibit me from talking about(no not porn). since my recent addition i have about 230gb free out of 950 if i would of held off from adding my most recent HD iw ould have about a gig of free space.

edit: also, having a 40gb HD and burning stuff to CD's as you DL is weak, humor me

oh...
Why don't you just buy a dvd burner. instead of buying 120gig hdds, and burn them on dvds. Keeps your computer from slowin down and saves money

what malakai said, and i'd like to get a dvd burner but only to backup not to burn and delete, i like to have my stuff at hand instead of fishing through cd/dvd's to find what i need.

Video. I just got a new WD 120GB 8MB for $40 after MIR that will be dedicated to video storage.

I also have 2x WD 80GB 8MB for a total of 280 GB.

Skeetman

Woohoo Just added another 120 and 40gig which brings total to approx 580gigs of space.

And in another answer to xaxec's(sp) question.. we anime lovers do run servers, its called sharing. And I own a DVD burner and I do burn CDs and DVDs for backups of what I have stored on my computer. And it doesnt slow my computer down any because my OS is on a seperate drive. And besides, with the sizes of games these days (1gig+) you can only get a few on 20-40gig drives :p

160gigs of anime
60gigs of movies
14gigs of mp3s
30gigs of misc kazaa unsorted
15gigs of books
3gigs pictures
etc,etc,etc
*edit* oh, and of course lots for downloaded apps and cd images :D
and the rest is filling up quick ;)
