viewing 1080p video on a 4k monitor

so recently got a 4k monitor and when I watch things like, Twitch or Youtube, it..looks really bad. I can bring it up on my 1080p tv and it looks really nice. So its not the source material. Is there anyway to make 1080 look halfway decent on a 4k monitor..or am I going to need to keep changing resolutions constantly?

That's the down side of UHD, unless the monitor scales lesser resolutions up, they will look kind of crappy. As far as I know, there's nothing you can do about it.
