hey guys i am thinking of getting a new video card for my new comp. it is an amd xp 1900+,abit kx7-333-r. what video card should i go with. my cho. are.
1. ati radeon 9000 128mb
2. albatron ti 4200 128mb
i will be gaming and video editing so which one is better??

if you ask me none of the cards above are "meant" for video editing, they will serve the purpose though, for gaming ti4200 can kick 9000's butt out to mars anytime :D

8500 is faster than 9000 Pro (from what i have read here) go for the ti4200 cheers

do not consider the radeon 9000, it's a low-end card. Go for the Geforce 4200 or a 8500 if its a lot cheaper, or wait for the radeon 9500.

I would really recommend the MSI Ti4200 128 mb VIVO.... its not that I'm a big MSI fan or anything... but I think they are the only company that has VIVO for the 4200s.... you can do some video edition with this card and gaming too....
Stay away from the R9000

N82E16814135105 --- aopen on newegg
N82E16814130117 --- VGA on newegg
N82E16814122147 --- Leadtek on newegg
N82E16814128126 --- Gainward on newegg
N82E16814121132 --- Asus on newegg
N82E16814170012 --- Albatron on newegg
N82E16814122150 --- Leadtek on newegg (a different one)

anyway, i recommend the msi card..or the abit ti4200...abit makes great cards

Yeah the Ti4200 is a sweet card, much better then the 9000. If you want video editing...isn't there a mod you can do to Gf2 MX that will effectively make it a video editing card???

I'm not sure how good it is, but it would be super cheap for your puroses.

I wouldn't go for either of those cards, if the inteneded purpose is video editing...... What type of editing, much video capure, do you have firewire?

First off, I'd like to say that if video editing is going to be a major concern you should avoid all Nvidia based video cards. Allthough there are several Nvidia based cards that are capable of video editing, driver support for those features ALWAYS takes a back seat to gaming performance. In my opinion, Nvidia support for video editing is still way behind what ATI has offered for years. Don't ever buy an Nvidia card for video editing unless it's a feature you don't plan on using very often. Nvidia makes GPUs for gaming. PERIOD.

There is a VIVO (Video In Video Out) version of the Radeon 9000 that I'm sure would do a good job for video editing. However, it would not be a very fast card for gaming by today's standards.

If you need a card that does both fairly well, I'd stick with ATI's All-In-Wonder series.
