which card for a decent HTPC

While we are on the subject, what about ATI x850XT PE (AGP 256MB)?

I am thinking about using this card on a HTPC setup.

Both cards have the same decoding ability, so either should be fine.

x850xt is ok for a htpc IF you don't want to do HD as it lacks the ability to handle that.

Are you wanting to do SD or HD movies or just run your res at 1920 x 1080?

Yeah, the card will do 1080 however if you play Bluray movies or mpeg2, vc-1 and i think h264, the cpu will do all the decoding, which means you could get some studdering depending on what you are doing in the background. Hard to find information on what decodes that card actually does with out rereading articles from that era.
