HDD: 500GB 7200RPM SATA (Old Laptop HDD)
Note: Taken from an HP dv7-2270us laptop
I recently built this computer. I used my old hard drive from my HP dv7 laptop that was loaded with Windows Pro. When I started up the computer I was never asked to install the operating system. Infact when it loaded it loaded as if I was still on my laptop. The windows lock screen came up and showed my name. I entered my password and up popped my desktop. It had the background, all the icons, and I even tried some of the programs and they worked. I am not sure if this means that I already have windows pro or not and am woundering if someone can explain this to me. I have already purchased Windows 7 Pro SP1 to load but have not used it yet.
Can somebody tell me if I still need to load the new windows from the disk?
Am I ok to just keep going as I am?
If I keep using it like this will I still be able to get updates and use all normal functions of Windows Pro?
Is there anything I can do to check to make sure I have full functionality of Windows Pro?
Thank you all for your help.
