I need help identifying a motherboard because this computer got knocked down and the heatsink/fan came right off. It broke off the clips that held the heatsink and fan down to the base of the assembly connected to the motherboard.

Could someone help me identify the motherboard or just direct me to what I need to look for to replace that heatsink/fan? Thanks a lot

Looks like a standard 478 Intel socket. I hate the plastic mounting brackets for them. I have one computer at work that I support that has had about 4 of them broken off.

Something like:

or this:

Should work great. They screw down through the motherboard (you will need to remove the plastic bracket first...the little round white plastic pins have to be pulled up first), and won't break off again.

At least not without breaking the motherboard too....

great thanks exactly waht i was looking for. Thanks a lot for the help, extremely good helip. Thanks a lot, i'm gonna go look for another stock one but i might feel a lil like a big spender and just got w/ one that won't break on me

Seems like the retention brackets are only about $7 shipped on ebay, so I might go that route. This isn't my computer this is my parents and it's lasted them this long, they won't need anythign fancy. Thanks again!
