I just completed the mod.

I just double checked and the pins are correct.

I pinned 4,3,2,1 just like the red-drawn picture.

I have double checked that the correct pins are shorted.

I used a thread of copper speaker wire (just a tiny thread stripped from some 20 gage stuff laying around.

My board won't POST. It just sits at 00 on the display when I hit the power button.

There is no reference to this in the manual.

Anyone?

the fix

Sure enough I got it working right!

I pulled the chip back out and found that it was shorting to another pin.

Be very careful with this and you will get it right.

The trick that made it easier to weave the wire ended up being to hook pin 1, pull the wires flat down and lay a sewing needle perpendicular to the lay, between pins 1 and 2. I was then able to do the twist at my leisure, pull straight again (tightly this time), and move the needle to the perpendicular run between pins 2 and 3 and repeat.

What a great trick!!
