I'm doing it.

Switching over to PCI-e finally.

by going pci-e, would it make that big of a difference between 128 / 256 bit?

Yes, there is a large difference, but the my X700pro is on par with a 9800xt, and it's 128bit. What is your price range? At $150+, there is no reason to get a 128bit card.

the best bang for your buck right now would be the x800pro refurbs from ATI, which can be had for $179.00 plus shipping. The next best deal would be the X800GTO2 which can be unlocked to run like a x850xt. Both are 256bit cards and can run pretty much anthing that's out today.

What kind of setup are you thinking of building? What do you want to use it for? What is your budget?

To answer your question though 256bit is better than 128bit.

I play CS:S & looking at BF2 with some guys from work.

3500+ Winnie s939
1 gig Corsair 3200xl TCCD

I did look at that 700pro & was thinking of that, but this GTO seems new.
I'll have to look into that.

Budget is a tad over $600.

-CPU I got for $200.
so now I got $400 left & need a mobo & vid card. & possible a ps.

-using a Enermax 430W
