Greetings, this is my first thread on this forum. Anyways, Im looking to build a new rig since my 3 year old one is getting obsolete. I feel like a total newb again but so far I know I want a comp with a Core 2 Duo E6300 chip, and 800Mhz DDR2, but I cant deside on a motherboard. I found this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16813186102
which is in my budget but in the bottom right corner of the specs I see this:
Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets.
Does this mean Im limited to 1.8v RAM with 5/6 timings? Also, would I be better off getting a board that can support 2.1v DIMMs? The reason I chose this board is because its in my budget, supports the CPU I want, along with a high memory hertage. If theres something else out there that would fit me better please let me know. Im looking to only have 1 Sata2 drive, 1x X1900XT card, and possibly 2 gigs of RAM. The computer will mainly be used for CAD and gaming. Also what does JEDEC stand for? I feel like a newb all over again.
