This folder is taking up about 17GB of space. I was under the impression the AppData was just temp data. Is it safe to delete this whole folder?

It stores settings for applications you have installed. It's also the default location for Outlook PST's and could also store things like saved games and other stuff.

Instead of deleting all the contents of the folder, it's best to look through the contents and find out what app is taking up all the space.

If you do not have "show hidden folders" on check that and see what it shows. It holds the profile data for games like stated above, most are hidden though. So no it is not safe unless you want to lose all your saved data.

After searching around, Local>Microsoft>Zune>Transcoded Files Cache seems to be taking 11.6 of the 15GB.
Thanks for the better description of what all this folder entails.

Just found out my Album art for Media Player is taking up a gig by itself. Apparently it has over 700K files in it.
