Western Digital SE drives: Are you getting the 60gb/platter version?

The new ones have 60gb/platter and it says it should have higher performance over the old 40gb/platter ones. Why does 60gb/platter give better performance?

i would think.. it doesnt have to search over multiple plates ::shrugz:: thats tyhe logical reason

Higher density means more bits pass per unit of time. I'm just making this up for example, but lets say 2 cm of platter passes the reader every 10ms, and the density is 40k/cm, you're able to read 80k in 10ms, but if the density is 60k/cm you are able to read 120k. Thats how I see it. Make sense?
