Higher density means more bits pass per unit of time. I'm just making this up for example, but lets say 2 cm of platter passes the reader every 10ms, and the density is 40k/cm, you're able to read 80k in 10ms, but if the density is 60k/cm you are able to read 120k. Thats how I see it. Make sense?

so the difference would be reading/writing more with the same amount of time?
