I just got a blorb for my northbridge, and really don't feel like taking off the motherboard to take out the plastic pins that hold the current hsf. Can I cut them off somehow?

I guess you could cut them but you will have little pieces under your mobo it is best to just take it out and cut them I think you need to any how to put it in correctly. I would take out the mobo that way nothing gets broken.

But taking off the motherboard is a pain (yes, I'm lazy), and I don't mind bits of plastic behind it.

"To say the least" is an understatement!
I just opened up the blorb I got yesterday and the first thing that came to mind was "you get what you pay for".
It won't be long before I am trying to rebuild that thing!
My real surprise was the sharp edges created by the screws that hold the fan on!
Half afraid to lap it for it may go through the plate on the bottom!!
