i will be getting an AMD 1700 and overclocking to 2.5+ (if i can), i currently have a 350 wat power supply but something tells me i need a bit more....

What would be enough? 450? 550?

I am currently planning to get a 550 since the price difference between 550 and 650 watt power supplies is around 50 bucks...

550 enough? What do you guys use? and what do you overclock?

Wow, originally i thought this was such a stupid post of me and was planning to delete it...

You have no idea how much your reply helped me, thank you so very much, now i know what i am getting into....

Well i have found a BUNCH of cheap (were talkin 26 bucks or less) power supplies rated 550W, I am going to put a little back into the community by calling the vendors and asking for their ratings and stuff....

I am going to figure out whats the best power supply for the price, matter of fact im gona start a whole new thread about it, and maybe people can chip in and help, but should i start it here? watercooling forum? or where would be the best place?

The most agreed upon power for price PSU’s are the Sparkles (SPI) / Fortron (FSP) same people different names, and if you read the sticky called will a XXX watt PSU run this (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=150384) you will see that it has already been done for you there is also a Poll going around right now about the best PSU’s (http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=207712)
The absolute best you can buy is PC Power & Cooling (and you will pay big $ to get them too)
The best bang for the buck are the SPI’s and FSP’s
