I have a Palm IIIc that I plan on using with PocketLogger (a program that
monitors and records the OBDII information from a car such as coolant
temp, engine RPM, etc.) and would like to be able to use it for extended
periods of time with the backlight on. The palm connects to the car via
an adaptor that sits on the end of the hotsync cable. The problem is that
the Palm's rechargable battery won't last very long, so I need to keep it
plugged in to a DC adaptor, which is impossible with the hotsync cable
connected as they use the same plug. I am pretty sure that the hotsync
cable does not send data through the exact same connections that that
battery charger sends power through, so I am hoping that I can somehow
splice the two together to deliver both power and the hotsync connection.
Do you know if this is doable and what wires I would need to splice?
