how do i erase an entire hard drive

Use the hard drive manufactures utility to write zeros to the drive. It will overwrite every sector on the drive.
 
You can simply format the drive.

If you REALLY want your data gone, you can download a shareware called "Eraser 5.7" or similar (check twocows and download.com) that will delete the data and write several special data paterns which make data recovery almost impossible :)
 
are you asking how to erase and re-install everything or to erase a second multimedia drive?
 
If thats all you want to do, fdisk it, delete the partition, create a new one, and then format it. No need to get real elaborate.
 
If you have a Win98(or ME) boot disk, boot into that. When it finishes booting, type Fdisk. Make sure you select the correct drive, the select Delete Primary partition. When you finish with that, select Create Primary Partiton. Format it and you are good to go.
