Od video cards just usually die out of the blue?

Last night I was surfing the web around 3am or so. This morning I wake up and try to move the mouse for the screen to come back on, nothing. Then I restart the computer and you can hear the monitor click when it gets a signal but the light keeps flashing orange/green with no post. I put in an old Geforce2GTS64mb and it runs fine.

The card that died was a TI4200. The fan still runs fine. I think I'm going to try running it in another computer. Do they normally just up and die like this?
