Hello,

I just starting folding recently after reading about it for a while. I have learned alot about computer and oc from the ocforums so I decided to give someting back to the community. :)

Right now I only have my p4 rig folding during day times till before I sleep (I share apartment with gf and one suitemate). Currently I am not using my AMD rig cuz it's too loud :(. Gonna switch out my tornado fan with quieter fan then I can start folding on that rig also :D. I m not running 24/7 right now cuz I don't want to drive up the electric bill too much. Hopefully by next year we can get our own apt then I can fold 24/7 :D.

So, back to folding. My p4 is folding dual instance. I use EMIII to track the progress. The two instances are installed as Services so they startup automatically. Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Btw, one of the folding is twice as fast as the other one even though they are folding the same protein.

WELCOME TO THE FOLD!

about the 2 protein's, there is likely to be some differences between them, they might be different strains. If you want post the logs and we can check them.

again, WELCOME

Welcome to the team! If you need anything you can contact me or I'm sure anyone else will be more than willing to help you. As for your log files they seem to be going about the same speed. Maybe you should check the CPU usage option. It allows you to determine what percentage of the cpu to use, so maybe one is set a little lower. The default is 100%. Also would you like to buy a Folding T-Shirt?

Clint

both of them are running 100% cpu.

here is the interesting part, for my 2nd folding process, it was folding around 3.5min per frame last nite before i shut down my comp. this morning when i start the folding again, it was folding 8.5min per frame, and after one frame, it was folding 7.5min per frame. while for the 1st folding process, it stayed constantly 7.5min per frame.

they both are folding for the same protein name, that's why i m confused...

Maybe you should scan your computer for spyware. There maybe something running in the background taking up cycles.

As for the shirt you can look at the thread here

http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=328356

Tismedt is ordering the shirts and we need a minimum order of 36. We're still deciding on the final design but I think it is going to be

on the front and I don't know what on the back.

If you are running two instances of FaH on a hyperthreaded P4 CPU then dont worry if one is slower than the other. Hyperthreading doesnt necesarily mean that each process runs exactly as fast as the other.
