pD Temps? 70c ?

wuzzup guys,
i just got my new box running tonight

and the bios said it was 75c the first hour and its dropped to 68c

what temp should a pD 840 3.2ghz run at?

Says max allowed temp 69.8°C

Better check you cooling as you're running your CPU beyond critical conditions.

make sure your heatsink fan is plugged in. and also, how many case fans do you have? Air may not be moving fast enough through your machine.

My 830 ran that hot too at first...but only for a short time. Forced me to upgrade cooling significantly, to Delta Extreme and xp-120....now idling around 48-49.

well its climbing now - up to 82c
i just used the thermal tape on heatsink
i'm going to get some compound this morning and try that
i'm cutting it off

It's just way too hot.
Try working on case airflow and replace that cooler with something serious, like dual/triple fan TT Sonic Tower.
