sup guys, im going to buy a desktop and cant figure out whats the difference between FX and X2 CPU. I know FX is for gaming and X2 is dual core, but which one performs better for gaming (im guessing FX). FX has better scores in gaming than X2's im i right?

Well, there are 2 flavors of the FX Series. Before the FX-60, all were single core with unlocked multipliers, clocked high. Starting now with the FX-60, it is a dual core 2.6Ghz, with an unlocked multiplier. The X2 is simply a dual core processor with the multiplier unlocked downward from its default, where as the FX has a fully unlocked multiplier.

FX chips have unlocked multi's allowing a broader system configuration when overclocking. FX's come in single or dual core types, X2' are all dual cores.

Which is better performing? Thats depends on the Mhz the chip and memory (+ latency) is running at and the speed of your storage.
