ive got 3 computers linked together though a DSE router.

and the 3rd computer cant get a connection and says that the cord itself isnt even plugged in.

but on the router and back of the motherboard it says that its all connected and all lights are greenon both the motherboard port and the router.

If anybody can help out with this problem it would be most apreciative.

Is it a new cable? Custom made? How far from the router is the PC? Has the PC ever been hit by lightning? I have seen many NICs get hit by lighning, but the PC continues to work fine, except networking. Try a different NIC?

Hey,sadsa...:welcome: TO THE FORUMS!

Make sure that the TCP/IP setting on the computer are set to use DHCP.

Outside of software, there are only 3 things it could be:

  1. The Cable
  2. The Router
  3. The NIC

For Number one, try a new cable or try the one connected to the problem computer on a known good machine.

For Number two, make sure that another machine can communicate when attached to the router port currently occupied by the problem machine.

If the cable is good and the router is good, replace the NIC in the problem machine.
