on a quad core, how would you bottleneck if your ram wasn't running fast enough.... Would you be ok running a 1:1 ratio?

well im gnna be getting DDR2 800 for a Q6600 g0, and need to know if I would need faster RAM or not. Will run the cpu at about 3.0-4ghz.. will my RAM sufficiently fuel the Cpu?

Also should I stick with the Crucial ballistix 2 x 1gb DDR2 800 Ram or go with something else??? I am going to be doing Gaming

Assuming you are using a 9x multi,

4GHZ=9x444

Therefore you will need RAM that can do at least DDR2-888.

Assuming an 8x multi,

4GHz=8x500

therefore you will need RAM that can do at least DDR2-1000

Obviously the faster RAM you use the better. In terms of bottlenecking - I wouldn't worry about it. As long as your RAM can do the speeds I listed you should be fine.

Pleasure!

make sure the motherboard is up to the task, as well as the PSU and cooling.

What are you going to be using?

My sig has all the components I am going to be using. All will be purchased within the next month..
