How does FAH connect to servers

Hi all,
I just have a quick question about FAH and its connections to the get work and send work servers. What protocol does FAH use to reach the servers? is it just a HTTP connection or does it use FTP?

http... as far as I can tell.

In my resource manager it shows the folding process connecting to vsp17v.stanford.edu, and when I type that into my address bar, it appends http to it automatically

It's just HTTP. It can go via an HTTP proxy if needed (like my laptop does in the office).

It's HTTP and, IIRC, you have to have UDP on port 80 or 8080. All the servers are open on 8080 while only some on 80, so having 8080 open is desirable.
