This needs some work. Intel boards are not knowd for their overclocking prowess. My suggestion would be the Gigabyte UD5.
Ram
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381
Good choice, the best deal in DDR3 right now IMHO.
hard drive storage x2

Good drives.
intel ssd main drive for OS/apps

Would be choice as well.
CPU cooler
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835608007
It is a very good cooler but also give some consideration to the Megalahem It will give a bit better performance.
PSU

As long as you have no intentions of adding a second 295 is will be fine. My choice(albeit at a considerable increase in cost) would be the 850HX. More power, modular, and better internals.
Case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119160
My favorite cooling case at the moment as well.
Blu Ray burner
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136155
I am not up of BR burners so I'll have to leave this for someone else.
hdtv tuner

I have had great experiences with Hauppauge products so it should treat you well.
video card nvidia 295

It is a lot of card. What resolution do you game at?
sound card Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132008
Go you have a high end audio set-up capable of taking advantage of this card. It is a lot of card and if you don't have the requisite audio gear you are just wasting your money.

Overall looks like a very nice system. Good luck.

Only cause it was part of the INTEL deal I got
that cpu i7 920
that Motherboard
vista ultimate 64
windows 7 upgrade coupon all for $290

So that's how I ended up with that motherboard. It wouldn't be my pick either but it'll save me $250 on a clearly already way over budget build. As for the cooler, like someone posted in the cooler section in a thread. Every freaking review I seen on coolers had a different winner even though same models were always benched. So I said hell with it , I went with the one that was silent, plus had fans already included. My monitor is 24 inch dell 1920x1200 which frankly has caused me gaming headache since I got it as you can imagine. I've had it for 3 years or more. My audio setup is sick so yep I can use sound card to full extent.
Reciever

Speakers

I'm worried about power supply whine issue. Also on edge about buying a $540 vid card with 300 cards coming or dx 11. But I couldn't find any real info on release of either. So hell with it. evga has upgrade policy so gives me window but still.

I'll also be adding to all that two 500 gig hard drives I already have in current rig.

Personally I would sell the motherboard and buy a better one. It is that big of a difference.

The cooler choice is fine. You are only going to be giving up a couple of degrees, it sounds like you are like me and that is worth the sacrifice for a quieter system.

For the GPU a 285 would certainly give respectable performance at a lower price tag. But with EVGA's step-up you would have a decent fall back plan, I just personally can't justify that kind of money into a GPU.

Yep, I am jealous of your audio set-up. Very nice indeed.

Agreed on the mobo, for $200+ you can find beast mobos.

for the price on that noctua cooler you could get a TRUE or as Phidelt mentioned a Megahalems which would give better performance. Quietness would be determined by the fans, low speed yates are quiet enough for me on my TRUE, but your tolerance maybe different.

Will do, for that much I'll be taking new pic every 5 seconds so I can brag some before its all out of date and old hardware...actual total $2074.71

God stop talking about the HAF932 it keeps popping up everytime I go anywhere online, my wife is going to kill me if I buy anymore stuff for the PC! And the "at least I am not sitting in the pub line" just isnt working anymore! : (

Ha don't look at the review on youtube here let me find it for you hehe.

Also the problem with coolers, is every freaking review I seen, there was a different cooler at the top spot. So basically making them meaningless. All the ones you mention were on my top 3 list. TRUE, Prolimatech Megahalems, Noctua I seen and it beat TRUE, seen Megahalems beat all. But everyone loves the TRUE. So was whatever, everyone says Noctua is silent, and close enough temp wise, said hell with it. Less hassle don't have to search for fans.

Thanks for that Video mate nice touch! Man see those fans on that thing damn I need to get one! : (

I am a coolermaster fan to be honest, wouldnt the V8 cooler be an option for you, not sure if it fits I7 boards and too scared to read about the I7s or I will end up trying to buy one! There coolers are massive though, my z600 is the same size as my 4 week son!

I cetainly understand what you are saying. When you are talking about parts that are this close in performance a slight variation in the amount of TIM or tightness of the mount can make the degree or to difference between reviews.

The TRUE is so popular because it has been until pretty recently. unrivaled in the top cooler category. Now there are options that are right their with it that do not have the quality issues with the base and mounting mechanism to get the performance out of it. Sure, other than direct contact coolers, most will perform better with a quality lap job but with the TRUE it was almost mandatory. That is ridiculous for a premium part. The Noctua as mentioned is very good but expensive(at least at newegg). The Megalahem fits somewhere in between. No matter which you choose the performance you end up with is going to be as much dependant on your install skills as anything else.

Well all parts arrived FINALLY no thanks for freaking INTEL. Over month wait on the Intel retail deal...Anyway everythings together working ok , getting used to a 64 bit OS. Only issue so far is damn Firefox it's locking up and close it , it doesn't really close have to task manager they damn thing all the time it seems. GRR.

Everything else so far has been nearly painless. So basically 64 bit OS yet 98% of all programs basically 32 bit huh. All seem to be in the x86 folder on install. Or is that not what that means?

Here is the first pic I took of it after doing some light cable management, which is damn hard when you have 5 hard drives, 1 blu ray burner, sound card, hdtv tuner in one case. But looks 100 times cleaner than my last pc haha. I'll post pic of that so you can have good laugh later.
Overclock hasn't gone so smooth have to do more research. Not up on new tech with i7's and ram so.

Looks sweet! Cant wait to upgrade my rig, only a couple more weeks :D
I used to have problems with Firefox randomly crashing, then not wanting to start again without a re-boot. After switching to a new rig (my current) the problem stopped. I'm not completely sure what would cause that, have you tried to re-install/try an older version?

Cable management looks like its coming along, looks 100x better than mine, my case is a mess :p

Ok firefox problem fixed. Had to be one of the addon's or plugin.

My new problem I'm pretty damn sure it's a problem anyway. TEMPS.
Temp idle i7 920 @3ghz is 51c /w Noctua cooler. There is no way that should be 51c freaking idle right. CPUz has it at [email protected] idle. The more I look the more I see people with 34c and 42c idle temps at thats at 3.6ghz or higher. My cooler pulls from bottom pushes from top, have look at my pic up above. Nice big case, big fans for airflow. Temps on everything else look great. Hard drives are 32c, the BFG 295 is 42c idle/63c during Farcry2 on enthusiast @1920x1080.

So now I have to figure out what to do or try. It's no harm now but I don't want it just left at 3ghz that's freaking lame after spending all this money.

I've since removed the blue fan, it's completely to loud. And almost certain I have to RMA one of the noctua fans as it isn't spinning correctly at all which is reason for the high temps. I have to struggle greatly to tell which way air is flowing and can stop it with finger without and resistance really. Has to be bad fan.
