If I was a Kindle owner I would be contacing Amazon over this to register my displeasure. I think the action which Amazon have taken is horrible for their consumer and I would advise every kindle owner to contact them and let them know this is not acceptable.
However I must admit it makes my choice of ebook seem even more desirable.

A ebook reader with the ability to run a browser is a great deal of use to me as it permits the ability to read articles online. I also have a bash shell, ftp and email client and other useful tools which extends its further than a generic ebook.
