Can you have 2 drives in a raid setup then 1 drive not in a raid setup? As in, would I be able to score 2 of the 40gb Intel SSDs, have them in a raid, and then have my 1TB WD Black drive, not in a raid?

Every Intel ICHxR controller and every hardware RAID card I've used has this capability. This is not to say that ALL RAID controllers do, but all of the ones I have used do

Yeah, that should be capable on most RAID controllers. It would show up as a "non member" disk I believe.

Would be the Intel ICHxR controller, whichever is on my Maximus III Formula. Good to know.
Can this be expanded to have both of the SSD's (OS) in one RAID1 setup and another 2xHDD (data disk) on a separate RAID1 configuration?
I would like to setup full automatic recovery for both the OS and data drive, but don't know if the controller could handle this setup.
