Anybody here use Rayfire plug-in for 3ds Max 2k9?

Ok, so does anybody use this plug-in for 3ds-max? its awesome and I'm going through the photoshop phase with it, (learning from boredom etc.)
It is pretty cool, it was used extensively in the film 2012, games such as GRID, Farcry 2, Star Wars TFU: 2 trailer, and many others...

Anyway, what I'm after is to create this effect, as I have literally NO idea, how its done..
