Ok, change of plans, rather then make a new post I thought I would edit this one. I bought an OCZ 550w Fully Modular PSU, now I still plan to run custom cabling. What I am looking for now is a source for black 18awg flat cable by the foot. the only thing I can find is 100' rolls.

You'll need multiple wire bundles.
A PCIe 6p connector is only rated for 75w, drawing more is asking for trouble.
Similarly a Molex is rated at 10a and a floppy power connector at 4a.
Trying to feed the entire 12V through a single molex or PCIe connector will result in smoke and possibly fire. Exciting, but not in a good way

Thanks, I think I will look at going the Modular conversion route anyway. that way It is ready for any future modular PSU i might upgrade to.

Does anyone know where I can find 18awg flat cable sold by the foot? preferably in 12 or 24 conductor.

well, Newegg has a 550W fully modular PSU on sale right now, so I am going to go that route. But I still plan to do custom cable routing.
