Hi, I want to build a desktop for Programming(involving webservers, dbs and clients for them) and for watching HD movies online. I am not a gamer. I live in Ireland and i have a budget of 800 euros to spend only on CPU, no speakers and Display. I want to know the following please

1. processor
2. motherboard
3. Graphic card?
4. RAm
5. Harddisk of 500 gb is enough for me

and what else would i need?

I want to build it in a week so kindly help me with a spec please.

Thank you very much
S.

If you aren't looking to play games you generally don't need a Graphics card providing you purchase a CPU with integrated graphics.

Processor:

I would go for the Intel i5 3570K, but if money is tight you could look at an AMD CPU (I'm not to familiar with AMD as I typically go for Intel; so can't recommend any I am afraid.

Motherboard:

Gigabyte SKT-1155 Z77-D3H more than adequate for your needs if you go for the i5 3570K,

Graphic Card is optional, but you could always through one in; the following is a reasonable price:

Sapphire Radeon HD7750

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Ra...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355000725&sr=1-1

RAM:

If running servers/clients etc. you would want 8-16GB minimum,

Maybe Kingston HyperX; reasonable in price and good timings from what I've read.

8GB: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Hy...1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355000753&sr=1-1

16GB: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-KH...1_7?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355000753&sr=1-7

HDD, any 7200 RPM HDD will be sufficient; I'd go with the Seagate:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Bar...1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1355000800&sr=1-2

You'd need the following:

Case.

Power supply.

DVD RW (Optional)

Version of OS;

Then the other accessories, mouse, keyboard etc.

Thank you Thomas, what do you think of solid state drives. would the motherboard mentioned above be good enough for a ssd and a magnetic disk. would have the os in ssd and my data in the magnetic disk. And is the Bus in this motherboard fast enough?
