build it yourself, you'll like it a lot more, and when you have to upgrade, it won't be a problem. none of your parts will go in more than one way... just use common sense and have patience. Everyone here has had to build a compy for the first time. nothing beats the satisfaction of firing your new rig up and watching it come to life.

if he's Ocing (which he should because this is the OCing forum ;) ) PC3200 default to 200mhz, further down i saw you refered him the Cosairs pair, if what you're saying is true, then he won't need those, instead save 150 bucks and grab some cheapo ram. The cosairs that you listed OC like mad though. He's on a 1500 dollar system, let him have the RAM running in sync with the CPU :) he have enough money for that. And yes, higher speed RAM will benefit the over all system. especially in things like winzip or ISO extracting.
