Good Morning everyone. Ive been pulled in by a friend of the family to make a frankenstein. He wants it to be running windows 7 but using old parts from his two current prebuilt computers, there are 8-10years old. Anything left over i get to ebay or use for my self. Below are the stats of both computers that i pulled from everest and narrowed down a wee bit.

Pentium 4 2.8ghz socket478 Ram = 512MB PC2700 MB = ECS L4S5MG3 Bio’s = Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.0 HD = SAMSUNG SV0813H (80 GB, 5400 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100) CDRW = ATAPI CD-RW 52XMax (52x CD-RW) DVD = IDE DVD-ROM 16X (16x DVD-ROM) GRAPHICS = Asus V8170 DDR SE/128 (nVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440) Moniter = Proview CY765 17” LCD

AMD Athlon 1.3GHZ Socket A RAM = 1gb PC2100/2700 MB = ASRock K7S41GX BIOS = American Megatrends Inc P2.70 K7S41GX GRAPHICS = NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 MONITOR = Proview CY765 [17" LCD HD = ST3160021A (160 GB, 7200 RPM, Ultra-ATA/100) DVD-RW = MAT****A DVD-RAM SW-9581 DVD = SONY DVD-ROM DDU1621

The plan, Use the Pentium with the PC2700 (wheel and deal my way into 2 x 1gb sticks) use my own graphics card so i give them the two moniters. Master the 160gb harddrive then slave the 80gb? Use the CDRW and DVDRW. And hope the standard PSU will surive?

Anything im missing? All other componats like heatsink and stuff will stay the same. Will be a floppy and a card reader.

(Reason im giving my graphics is because the money i could sell the other MB, 2 graphics cards and prossessor aswell as cd drives could easly get me a new upgraded one)

Seems like a decent enough plan. That P4 motherboard doesn't support dual channel, so if the 512MB and 1GB are in single sticks, you may want to see how it works with 1.5GB RAM. You also probably don't need a separate CD-RW and DVD-RW drive... I'd personally just use the one DVD drive to keep things simple.

What power supplies do you have to work with?
