AMD's flagship has always been expensive. It's a BRAND NEW core and the newest and fastest chip. The 1 GHz Tbird was $1,300 per 1,000 quanities (source: ZDNET)
The way it seems everybody is always upgrading and changing out cpu's in this forum I am willing to bet AMD would profit more from lowering the cost of the CPU's and trying to sell more of them.
