Plans as of now are to buy the new Asus 1440 120+hz rog monitor on release, but I will need more gpu power to utilize 120hz.

I currently have a 2gb 770, and am considering another 770 for $330ish or sell my current 770 for and looking at spending 450+ out of pocket for a 780ti.

I have read many reviews and the 2gb vs 4gb 770 is a mute point for current gen games. At 1080 there is no game other than skyrim modded that uses more than 2gb vram at 1080. Even current games at 2560x1600 maxed only show a 1fps difference at best. So I see no need to get two 4gb 770s. Also I dont understand why so many people have problems with sli, I have had zero issues in the past, some games may not scale great but even then most sli setups whether scale great or not get similiar fps compared to single card setups. Sli 770s get on average 20+ fps greater than a single 780ti at 2560x1440.

So I can sell my card for 250 ish and shell out 450+ for an average 10+ fps over my single 770. Or buy another 770 for $330 and gain 20+ avg fps.

Seems like a no brainer to me, sli 770s should get great fps on current games at 1440, and I can ditch them when the delayed gtx 8/9xx series release next year.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't use a 2GB card for 2560x1440 res. There are several titles at that res that use over 2GB and that list is only growing as time goes on.

SLI/CFx usually work. Where people get into trouble is thinking it is 2x scaling. Its none, to 90% with both ends being rare. I find scaling to be on average, around 60-70% really. I personally find its a waste of money because in many cases, a more powerful single card can do the job with less hassle (meaning power consumption, heat displacement, and noise).

I don't see a problem of SLI outside of the 2GB of ram on a 2560x1440 monitor.

Agree with ED, However if you are going to lay off the AA you should be good to go for a while

the good news at that res it is not as important

But if you want max eyecandy you will need a bit more vram

To each their own of course, but, I find at 2560x1440, I still NEED AA. It's not 4K. I can easily notice, in BF4, when Im using 2xMSAA as opposed to the default 4x...
