Yes, the rest of your parts list would probably be helpful.
As far as a gaming only rig though, I don't really think you can go wrong with either direction. Both CPU's should do a fine job for gaming if that is to be your only use on the system.

I have the bulldozer and piledriver in most flavors, of them the 6 core is the better gaming rig, with good water cooling the rig is as quiet as a mouse, the 8 core is a noisy beast due to all the heat it makes.

Make that two threads, LOL!
It is best to keep things that are this similar in one thread as really, this is all about building your PC and questions surrounding that. More threads tend to only serve to confuse.
