AM2+ boards use DDR2.
AM3 boards use DDR3.
However, AM3 CPU's are backward compatible with the AM2+ socket and will run very well in those boards - using DDR2 RAM.
Your 7550 will not run in an AM3 motherboard. While there were some early rumors of AM3 boards supporting DDR2 RAM I still haven't seen one in real life and, honestly, don't expect to ever see one ...
