You can see my stats in the screen shot. In short though, I've focused on my HT Link and Bus Speeds rather than the multiplier. I can probably hit the multi some more, but I'd like a bit of feedback to ensure I'm going about this right to get the max performance from entire system, not just the CPU alone.

EDIT: Mobo is an MSI 790FX-GD70

You do understand that a high bus speed by itself doesn't do anything at all. The HTRef (bus speed in CPU-Z) doesn't carry any data so cranking it up, unless you're looking for a very specific speed combination from other components, doesn't accomplish much. It's not like it's a FSB or anything - AMD dropped that old-fashioned architecture in 2005.

12.5x240 CPU with the cpuNB at 10X, HT Link at 9X, and RAM at 667 MHz (DDR3-1333) would accomplish pretty much the same thing ...

Thanks, been a while since I tried to OC a computer and I didn't realize the bus speed could, to some extent, be ignored and still pull good performance from RAM and peripherals. I'm now running at 250 x 13.5 (3375 Mhz) with my RAM running at 1666 Mhz with the HTlink and cpuNB set at 9X.

Heres what I got out of my X6, first build since socket a.

Made a bit of progress since the last time I posted... and a HDTune shot just to show off my new drive I got for Christmas :)

Edit:
Just Unlocked My Sapphire HD6950 2GB GDDR5 To a HD6970
This is legitimate, as many of you keen overclockers will know, I've only just found out about it... Theoretically, It's saved me around £100 unlocking my HD6950 rather than buying a HD6970 xD

A little more fine tuning got my ram up to near stock clocks with stock timings.

Here's what I got when just bumping up multi on my 555BE, everything is set to Auto in BIOS. The min and max fan speeds are some bug... never did it spin past the 1400rpm. Using CM TX3 with CM Blade Master 92mm in push/pull.

Having problems with booting as X55BE x4, can pass 45hrs of Prime95 in Blend, but Windows Explorer and CCC crashes when Windows boots. If you have any ideas, look at my 555 problems thread :)
Thanks!

555BE x2 cooled by lil CM TX3 with two CM Blade Master 92 in push/pull and rear exhaust set to intake, making in blow fresh air right onto the socket and into the fins of the heatsink.

All voltages set to their stock values as per Dolk's thread, except for CPU volts which are cranked up to 1.4750. Load line calibration is disabled, C1E disabled, Cool'N'Quiet disabled.

Ram set to run at 1333Mhz, CPU-NB and HTT both set to 2000 in BIOS.

Ambient temps around 20C (I've no idea really because I don't have a thermometer in my flat, but I like it cool, so I recon it's 19-20C)

Is this too good to be true? I've seen people pushing over 1.5V just to get to 4.2

Gave the Phenom another kicking..

4515.12MHz this time around.

HELP why does it say 'rejected' =/
Never had that before... D:

and yes, 1.6v is probably lethal.. but, it was just a test / theory setup.. that worked.. for a few minutes.. =3

Modest Overclock

Here's my 955 BE OC'd to 3.8 Ghz on stock cooling, and I'm making sure I know how to post scrn shots. More to come when H70 arrives.

Glitch in the CPUz code (been that way over a year and guess they have no intention of fixing it). You can down multi a couple of cores and bring them back up in windows to get it to pass.

Oops, I forgot about this thread. I don't have my 965BE anymore, but this is my max CPUZ:

CPUZ link
1502979.png
That was with an ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard, Geil Black Dragon RAM, XFX 4830, a KingWin XT-1264 with push/pull, and about 10C ambients.

I don't exactly remember my 24/7 overclock but I think it was this:

CPU: AMD PhenomII 965BE C3 stepping (4036Mhz)
vCore: 1.4875v
HTRef: 207Mhz
cpuNB: 2277Mhz @ 1.235v
HTLink: 1863Mhz
RAM: 1656Mhz @ 1.64v (9-9-9-28-1T)
Temps: with water cooling: 42C load, with air cooling: 52C load.

Now I have a shiny new 1090T that's running like a champ. I haven't pushed it much and I haven't max validated it yet. Here's my 24/7:

CPUZ link
1695241.png

CPU: AMD PhenomII 1090T E0 stepping (4207Mhz)
vCore: 1.46v
HTRef: 255Mhz
cpuNB: 2550Mhz @ 1.2375v
HTLink: 2550Mhz
RAM: 1700Mhz @ 1.64v (9-9-9-26-1T)
Temps: with water cooling: 45C load

That's with an ASUS M4A88TD-E EVO/USB3 and Kingston HyperX Blu. No GPU yet.
