Hi, do you want to replace yours with the Gen3?

If I remember correctly, this was a limited edition and they stopped production few years ago.

Only way is the used hardware market.

Any reason for this specific board?

They stopped production because it was full of issues. Stick with the regular Rev. 2

The reason they stopped making it was due to numerous issues with the board, it was so bad they finally discontinued it's production and stayed with the Gen 2 version of it.
I'd only get one just to say I have it from a collectors viewpoint since they are kinda hard to find.... Maybe. :-/

Go with the Gen 2 version and have fun.

Hi,

I wanted to make use of the PCI3 3.0 lane on it. I currently have the Sabertooth MB and I figured I'd stick with it.

I think he's talking about the newest version of the sabertooth the gen3 rev2 that asus just released a lil bit ago, I've actually been hoping to see a review, real curious how they advertise pcie3 on that platform.

You're not going to see any difference between a Pci-E 2.0 and 3.0 especially with a Radeon 7770. At best you'll see a 5% improvement in FPS. You're better off spending the money on a new faster Gpu.

That looks like the board that was released in 2013 and was quickly discontinued to me. There was no new board released a month ago. If it was it sure would have Windows 10 compatibility splashed all over the box not Windows 8.

i was gonna get the motherboard first then a newer GPU since companies are always coming out with something new.

Is there an 990FX motherboard that supports PCIe 3?

Why are you so hung up on Pci-E 3.0? I can't understand why you would want to spend money on a new motherboard that has Pci-E 3.0, when you have a perfectly good motherboard now. Again the difference is minimal at best, you'll get much more performance out of a new Gpu. You would be much better off spending the extra money, you're looking to spend on a new board on a better Gpu. Even if you bought a Pci-E 3.0 board and had a GTX 980 Ti you're looking a few FPS more for 3.0 over 2.0.

thanks for the links. i figured since a lot of the GPUs are now using 3.0 interface, i might as well buy a motherboard that has 3.0 lanes to make the most of it.

thanks for the info everybody! i'll look for a better graphics card first.

There are no AMD FX boards that use PCIe 3.0. It's not until you start looking into their APU's do you find them. Also, as mentioned, it's a negligible difference anyhow.
