Hey guys,

After a long period of "down" time, basically i had settings on my Aquaero 6 that i liked, and didnt need to change, i know need to re-map my system.

So i went to download Aquasuit, but it says my Aquaero is only licensed up until 2016 Version and not 2017. So i need to buy a license to use their product now?

Anyone help?

Yup. They changed their policies around. I was up in arms about it but since have cooled off a bit. Some make decent points on why it was done and other's like my self weren't so pleased about it since its the only high priced premium controller in the market place as many of us have dropped lots of cash for this controller and its added components and accessories.

You could check here to get a more in depth of what exactly has happened and you can check here to read about the new features.

It sort of makes sense, I mean the man hours for updates and feature upgrades doesn't come free, and at least they are reasonably priced. I like that you can now use the LT model with PWM output, was always wondering why they hadn't done that yet, or why they haven't made the with PWM capability, that might be coming soon. The idea of a completely controlled fan system that you can tinker with so you can see the difference in how each fan in a system affects airflow and internal temperatures would be so much fun to play with. Looking forward to what else Aquacomputer comes out with.

I totally didn't read what you had asked. From what I read you can still use whatever version you currently have forever, but if they add new features to that existing item you won't have access to the upgrades of software, just bug fixes.

I was up in arms, didnt help that my email is not valid for making a user on the forums, but i have now figured how to get 2016 version, which is still free, got my AQ6 setup and move on. But im saving the installer this time! I still feel its unfair to suddenly throw a price tag on software for running the hardware we paid big money for. I do understand at the end of the day, but for someone like me who messes around with the settings once every 12months or more, its annoying to have to pay for it.

Oh, I agree. The argument is or at least some of it is, that the old users of Aquaero's from 5-10 years ago still use software and get updates but don't purchase anything anymore and or not for a while. Their high price point to me is contradicting because you would think the price for support is added but why should you force the new purchasers to fork up the bill for people with older hardware? How about they just stop support on older software which in return might make some of the older users pony up for new purchases. It reminds me of a socialist type approach, make this group pay for the other group but to each their own I guess.

I still enjoy their hardware while still having a "year left" of their licensing agreement or at least I should but we'll see.

I'm actually happy with the 2016-4 but waiting to get more info on the transition from that to 2017-1. I've already seen a few people with issues and waiting to make sure things get ironed out and what's the best way to approach this update.

I almost forgot to add, its just a single file that figures out which version you will get. It needs to have a internet connection to talk with the licensing server.

I don't see a big issue with how they are doing it, most likely (if I read some if correctly) the older hardware users might run into issues where the hardware they have won't be able to use some of the newer software cause it will feature heavy and won't play well with the OS, but that might be reading into it too much. I also don't think you will need to upgrade or get newer versions once you have all things set, personally, I had 2016-4 just the way I wanted it, but curiosity made me test 2017.1.1 and it's small issues, nothing worth crying over, just a bug or two.

I am interested in how to get the Web service working though is anyone figures that out, or should we start a new thread for that GTX?
