So I've been curious about switching to M.2 from my SATA SSD but found some confusing posts about the board not working at the up to 32GBs posted speeds for whatever reason, some say because of certain Brands and/or models. However a lot of those posts are over a year old from what I've seen. I don't have a lot of time to keep looking around and was wondering if anyone here knew?

How's it fair? Does it pull off the speeds if given a fast M.2 SSD?

I was looking at these SSD's...

It should work.

Question is: do you really need/want it?

Apart from big files read/write and boot time, the benefit is negligible.

Meaning, if not doing a lot of BIG pics/movies or music editing, you won't see any diffrence.

The Samsung are reliable and as fast as others (except from Intel Octane, which costs an arm, a leg... and a kidney if you don't have a saving account).

Edit: I'd go with the 960 EVo. Added performance of the pro does not justify the price difference IMHO.
