My build:

Asus p9x79
Intel 3930k
dual gigabyte windforce OC 760 GT
16 gb ram
Win 8 64-bit
Motherboard bios updated to latest before I installed the patch

I've read people with the Pro and WS boards and SB-E are capable of using the Nvidia "force gen3" patch to put their systems into PCI-E 3.0 but I have double clicked on the patch and it does nothing. Am I just screwed? Am I forever doomed to run Nvidia in 2.0? I hope not, I just built this computer.

When I double click on the force-enable-gen3.exe a small dos box pops up and disappears. I then shut down the system and restart. I clicked on the exe several times after the first restart didn't work so hopefully I didn't screw anything up.

I could just run AMD cards but I'm a 3D graphics guy and the new rendering systems all use CUDA and not openCL.

Any thoughts?
