Latest version of OCCT uses AVX1 I'm pretty sure. Knocks my frequency down 1x.

yes, it does.
I am running 0 avx offset and it is just on the boarder of overwhelming my little coolermaster seidon, 240 with quiet, low speed fans after 30 minutes.

Yeah, OCCT is essentially equivalent to Prime95 in the amount of stress it subjects the CPU to. I really like it because it has temp and voltage graphs and allows you to set a timer for the stress tests.
