right now i am starting work on a compact water chiller, with the dimensions of 1 foot cubed. i am going to use a medium sized reseivor, with a txv and approximately 30" of 1/4" copper tubing for the evaporator. i am going to use methyl alchohol at 60% strength as a coolant. the condensor is going to be 1 foot squared, and i am going to pull air through the box with a 11" diameter 120v ac fan. here's a sketch of the setup:

i believe the compressor is 1/2 hp, but am not sure. the refridgerant is r-22, and i have a source for more to refill my system after im done modifying the neccesary components.

in any case, im wondering if anyone has any thoughts

oh right, im going to have to refill the system, should i upgrade the refridgerant to a better low-temp ref, vs. r-22?
