Corsair H60 vs H70

Agreed, they just ain't up to normal expectations. But in situations like this, it might be a vaiable option.

In your PC pic, then the H70 would be as good as what you have as long as you got room for the rad. Even the limitations of the H70 would be better than what you currently have to deal with.

This is a custom setup:

I will NOT do a custom setup, thats for my main rig, when the time comes.

But the Single rad would be placed in the same place. Pulling in air from front, with a push/pull setup.

I'd either get the Corsair H80 or the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro (jeez that's a mouthful).

Read reviews from enthusiast websites, and previous buyers on Newegg/Amazon, and pick one.

I got a better deal from Amazon vs. Newegg.

I would to get the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Pro, but its just not on the market here, So that option is not possible.

Nice build you linked. The dude running cpu+gpu on that single 120mm rad is pretty cool haha.

Are you going to keep the E8500 in the htpc? Are you going to overclock? I don't see where you really need anything stronger than a H60 for a htpc really.

These are really cool too, if you can fit them:

You could just run them passively and keep good airflow through the case if the fan is too close to the PSU.

Well i was planning on the E8500, and running it OC'ed. But i got my fingers on an i5 2400S in the mean time.

But until i get the LGA 775 sold, thats the system i will be running.

When sold, its going to be an AsRock H77 ITX board with i5 2400S which means no OC. I just want a "quiet" system, and my last HTPC, the CPU cooling was the loudest thing.

Hmmm... I should read better than I do..

Why do you even want to overclock an HTPC? Just toss a stock intel HSF in there (or equivalent) and call it a day. It'll work fine and still be quiet; not much to gain with o/c'ing a HTPC IMO.

How about passive cooling then ? Get some super quiet case fans in that little case and some good wire management.

Wire management is always high priority for me. But i still dont have the case, i will get it tuesday/wednesday next week.

The HD6950 is already a concern as for space, since i have Arctic Cooling on it, its going to be shoehorn fit.

The PSU, an older OCZ600SXS will get its 120mm fan replaced with something newer and better, and more quiet. Im thinking Emermax UCCL12N, 3 in total, 1 in the PSU, and 2 for push pull on an H system, all rewired to have LEDs act on one button. But this is besides the point.

Will be used for gaming once in while, if it was pure HTPC i wouldnt bother stuffing an HD6950 into it. I will play games, have wireless xbox360 controller connectivity, maybe be used to play Dirt3, Saints Row 3 and others.

My point was, don't put any fans on the cpu heatsink. Just let it be passively cooled by good airflow in the case.

Also, you don't want LED fans in your htpc. It might be cool in your brain, but when you turn the lights off to watch a movie and the htpc is glowing white, it won't be as cool.

I have lots of these. They are awesome and nearly silent.

Maybe your not aware that Emermax UCCL12N fans come with a switch to turn off the leds, which would be rewired to one switch, so they can be turned off when lights are off.

H70 doesn't come with fans, so that might help. Doubt there is much, if any, performance loss/gain between the two.

And that is sort of crap! I want an old H70 system with thick rad.

But the H60 is cheaper then H70, and at least the H60 comes with 1x120mm.

I also had a brief look at the Emermax closed loop systems. But i dunno, i'll get real intense with this rig once i get the H77 ITX board.

I dont know if i should make a new thread, but things have changed alot since this thread.

I never got the cooler master Elite 120, and i got so pissed at the slow delivery i cancelled it, and ordered a BitFenix Prodigy instead.

So now im going air cooled, but i would still love a VERY silent solution. What should i be looking at?

my nh-d14 kicks but and fits in that case. i recommend it.

Looks great, but i think, i might have a new problem now that i got the new ITX board.

Maybe you can see it here:

The CPU is very close to the GPU, the once more presents a space problem.

I got a great offer on an H100, which i think im going to buy and then move my old H70 over, seems like i would have problems finding a great working fan that fits.

Unless someone can come up with a great fan solution, i think that might become my solution.
