CS:S hardware advice

I have to use a mousepad because my desk is made out of some sort of steel that is polished, so if I try to use my mouse on it the laser doesn't read correctly and my mouse just freaks out and goes wherever the hell it wants, I can't even click the "Post Quick Reply" button without a mousepad.
