Hey guys,

I have Win 7 installed on C, However I have a specialised printer that only has drivers for XP. There's no workaround. I have a spare copy of XP and I was wondering if I could install it on D? If so I have a few questions:

1. Will I be prompted which OS I want at every boot?

2. Will I have to install the programs I need again or will I still be able to run the ones installed on C?

I was using a clapped out old laptop but the complexity of the artworks I'm printing make it almost impossible and crashes happen all the time. So this would solve all my problems :).

Thanks folks.

Will.

1. Yes

2. No

You can save any files you generate on either drive to either drive. You run programs based upon the OS and the DLLs; be aware that you may need some of them on both drives (mostly productivity software) but just for grins you may want a clean install with updated libraries anyway.

If you have any data on :/D and install XP on it, you'll lose the data as XP will format the drive upon install, so move the data, back it up, etc.

Generally you want to install in order of release so that the boot loader can get itself setup. You can do it the other direction but will have to make some boot.ini edits and maybe a couple other things.
