I have not bought all the parts, but I have chosen them all except for CPU Water Cooling. I have not decided if I should get it or not, but if the CPU becomes a problem and the fan is too loud then I will. Here is a link to the parts I have picked out.

I am building this computer mainly for gaming, and future video editing, but not extensive editing. If there are any parts in my build that I picked a part that is a bit excessive for what I am doing, or if there are any parts that do not work with each other then please tell me. I would like to know if I may be bottling necking any of my parts or if there are any parts that are bad and there is a better option. I did some decent amount of research so I do not think the build is too bad, but I would like some opinions from other people. Thank you :)

The SSD you've chosen is intended for Enterprise use. Grab a Samsung EVO.

To get the most out of an amd setup you must overclock. To get the most out of your overclock you should really consider spending a few extra bucks on a more solid motherboard.

Sabertooth 990fx
990fx extreme9/fatality pro (not killer)
Crosshair formula

Are really your only options for an 8350.

the older 8350's memory controller gave up the ghost at around 2000, I don't know if that's still the case so you might look at 2000 or 1866 ram.

Thank you for the advice, I will look into getting a different SSD and the CPU Cooling and a different hard drive as well probably.

Would you entertain the possibility of going with an Intel CPU instead? My feeling is the FX series is on it's way out and AM3+ is the last of it's kind.
I've been looking at a new build myself, and I'm planning on holding off until skylake or broadwell comes out later this year. Also waiting on R9 3xx series.

I think the extra $50-60 for an Intel CPU is worth the cost.

I replied with an Intel build just before your post. Check it out. :D

Haha, I spoke too soon. At this point, is it worth buying a 1150 board and broadwell? Or would it make more sense to wait for Skylake and its associate board. Rumor has it the first chips will be locked from overclocking, and the K series won't come out until 2016.. and in regards to DDR4. Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but I think these are issues that anyone looking to build a PC should be considering.

I like that build. Only thing I would change would be to drop the i7 to i5 and that cooler to a 212 EVO and pick a better monitor instead, one with IPS and maybe a little more real estate.

Or if you really want something nice, go 1440p

Personally with the only difference in the i7 with the i5 being hyperthreading and therefore a bit better multithreading, I'd perfer a better monitor since it's what you're actually interacting with right in front of your face.

Well it depends. If he has a perfectly good working computer he can put up with for another year-18 months then yeah, it makes sense to wait (that's what I'm doing) but on the other hand if his system now really really sucks and he's looking to build ASAP, not waiting is probably worth the lack of DDR4 and the usual 5-15% IPC boast.
