First time builder OS help

I'm a sophomore in Highschool getting ready for my first build ever. My family has never owned PC's because my family's work is better on a mac, so i've used macs all my life. As a result, I need to get a copy of Windows 7 and I want to get a copy for as cheap as possible. I checked Microsoft's online deal for a student discount (65$) but it says my school isn't eligible. My question for you guys is could it be possible to get a copy from a place like best buy and I just bring my student ID? Thanks guys.

Contact the Microsoft Store support center directly, and ask the rep. if your school is eligible for a student discount...
