I know I've been gone for quite sometime but I need some help guys. I'm now up to 4days with no GPU WUs. I know someone knows the answer to this.

So I was running v7 client but it asked for an update so I decided to move back to high performance clients. Because really what is the point of running a client that isn't high performance?

SMP is chugging along just fine using FAH6.34-win32-SMP
Code:
Arguments: -local -verbosity 9 -advmethods -smp 4
Are there any flags I should or should not be running on my rig the phenomIIx4 945?

GPU is not getting work
Code:
Windows XP/2003 GPU2 Console client6.23 on an ati 5870 1gb
running these flags -forcegpu ati_r800 -verbosity 9 -forceasm and set flag for big packets

this is the log
Code:

do this, please restart the program without -forceasm.
If work units are not completing fully (and particularly
if your machine is overclocked), then please discontinue
 use of the flag.

:welcome: back. Glad you are back in the fold. As for your question I will leave that to one of the more up to date members, I was also away from folding for a while so I'm still playing catch up.

I can try dropping the -asm flag however I don't see why it might have an issue with that.

**EDIT**
Dropped asmflag and still not getting work

chopped off a bit of space in the log if it looks weird to you.

And guys I never stopped folding for team 32 for long. I might not always have all my rigs on but when they are they fold for team 32 always have always will.

**EDIT**
Just deleted everything in the folder and started over running these flags
Code:
-forcegpu ati_r800 -verbosity 9 I also set -advmethods flag this time

Still the same issue I can't get a wu and its not like I've received an error back from stanford that would let me know there is an issue with my gpu.
I hope someone knows how to help me.

**EDIT**
Dropped all flags but
Code:
-forcegpu ati_r800 -verbosity 9
and still no WUs

Fonda thanks for the link still hasn't fixed anything. I cleared the folder and started over fresh using the flags you posted and still nothing.

Nah fonda there is a link on stanford for beta clients still. I always try to run their hp/betas
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download2011?from=English.Download

Funny I'm almost starting to wonder if they are no longer using the 6.23 clients. If that is the case then they need to take down the link but at the same point not a single issue out of the smp client I am running.

Everything is being allowed to go obsolete, except v7. If you want to use the new cores when they come out, you should be using v7.3 or more.

The one exception is the servers folding bigadv. v6 will still work for -bigadv wu's, AFAIK.

The v7 client is just as high performance, as any other FAH client - it's the cores that do the work, not the client. Just don't run the protein viewer or any other "cpu cycle stealer", and you'll be fine.

Just upgraded to the newest. I dig this new 7.3 built in web interface. Time to update all the machines!

It's new, and not every feature in the web interface is functional yet, but it's a start. And it will work with all the lastest cores and projects coming out in the future - and v6 won't.

v6 still works for the GPU, you just need the latest version, v6.41. But the recommendation is to install V7.x, as newer WUs and fahcores will, at some future point, not support the older clients as mentioned above.
