Hey guys,
I am planning on overclocking my AMD FX 8120.
I have just bought a Coolermaster Hyper 212 heatsink. I was just wondering if anybody could show me a guide on how to overclock it, and or anything I would need to know before i start, and how high should I overclock?
And replies would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
-Tom.

SOmething you should know before you start .... these CPU's generate allot of heat and how well you are able to deal with it will determin what kind of an OC you will be able to achive.

Heres the guide for the FX Series CPU.....

As far as how high you can go with your OC that depends on your temps. Keep an eye on your CPU Socket temp and depending on your motherboard max temps will be in the 65*C ish range. Some guys can go higher before this temp causes instability and some boards it is lower. Olso keep watch of your CPU Core Temp, max you want to see is about 60*C most guys will run thier 24 / 7 OC's between 55*C - 60*C.

I took a peek at a pic, I hope .... rushing here .... of your motherboard and noticed that it has no heat sinks on your VRM's ..... this is something you might want to look into getting andd installing on them. something like these ......

A little tip ..... pay attention to your case's airflow this can help you allot as you want to develop a good case flow to help get rid of the heat that the FX 8120 generates as you step on it. Something that will help is get an extra 120mm fan and mount it in some fastion to blow down into your socket / VRM area. Use some zip ties if you have to or you can get a spot fan something like antec makes.
